Why APR FC and Rayon Sports’ match is not El Clasico but Derby

When these most admired teams clash, people think it is El Clasico, as those teams of Spain: Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, but the truth is derby rather than El Clasico because they come from the same city.

First of all, ‘El Clasico’ is a word that has its origin in Spanish and, in English, means ‘The Classic.’ This name was given to the match between the competing football teams of Spain, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. It was also taken and dubbed the match between two teams from two different cities of the country, as Real Madrid comes from Madrid and FC Barcelona comes from Barcelona in the Catalonia region.

While derby is the call given to the match of two teams that inhabit the same town or city of the country. For example, two fierce teams that are living in the City of Kigali.

Therefore, the game between APR FC and Rayon Sports FC is called a derby because they are both living in the City of Kigali, Rwanda.

There is their match on the evening of this Saturday of the Rwandan Premier League which is very important to both sides. On the league table Rayon Sports FC is the first team with 29 points while APR FC is the third team with 19 points.
