Mr. P reveals why he doesn't like Grammy's category "Best African Music Performance '
Peter is disappointed by the debatable category "Best African Music Performance."
A Nigerian artist, Mr. P, says that he sees Grammy's category dedicated to African artists, 'Best African Music Performance,' as a race, and he can't be happy when he is nominated in such a category.
Peter Okoye, a former member of P-SQUARE, shared it with his twin, Paul Okoye, well-known as Rude Boy. But every member has decided to make music himself and compete for his own award.
This man says that he doesn't like the category of African category Grammy Awards.
"If you give me a Grammy today and classify it under the 'Best African Music Performance,' I won't be happy. I don't like this African category; have you ever heard of the Asian or American categories? So what is the African category?" Mr. P says.
"Why are they segmenting everything? Russians do their own Grammy and still put the African category, it's beginning to irritate me," he adds.
He says this after the disagreeable nomination of Grammy Awards released by the society prepared it known as 'The Recording Academy' and all artists who are in that category are Nigerians: Asake and Wizkid (MMS), Davido, Lojay featuring Chris Brown (Sensational), Burna Boy (Higher), Yemi Alade (Tomorrow) and Tems (Love Me, Jeje). As it is seen in all those nominated artists, there are no other artists from East Africa or South Africa.
It made some entertainment-addicted people question this category and many of them were disappointed and are still saddened by the nominations excluding their big artists.
