Health organizations often wake people up and remind them that exercise is essential for maintaining good health.

Some people don't want to go to the gym for a variety of reasons, as some of them have confirmed it to Igisubizo.com.

Mugabo Mark says he doesn't want to exercise every day.

"I go to work in the morning, and I come back evening. So, I don't have time to exercise,” he denounces.

Another one, Kamariza Anitha, looks big and says she doesn’t do it. Surprisingly, she has been training for about five years.

“I’m okay and I don’t do sports. Because of the category of my work, trading, I daily sit. I remember to sports in back five years,” she says.

However, some people know the importance of engaging in sports.

Hirwa Cedric says that he highly knows the function of sports and makes his contribution.

“I do like to do sports and I wake up my people for doing sports; we run up and down the street, then after, we practice gymnasium,” he says.

Clementine Akimana understands sports as well. “I do sports and it makes me feel great,” she reveals.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana urges people to practice sports because it helps to improve their health. In particular, Dr. Nsanzimana urges people not to sit for long periods because it is harmful to health, such as smoking.

"There's a lot of people who are smoking another kind of smoke but they don’t know it. What I’m saying is there is in health research. It's to sit for eight hours a day,” he says.

“Sitting for eight hours, without getting up, is the risk of developing non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer,” he says.

"It's not hard to explain because when you sit down, you feel like the stomach is over more meat of body and blood vessels are not free," he adds.

Dr. Nsanzimana continues to encourage people to exercise. "If we want to stop smoking, we have to stop that kind of smoking. I think if we do it better we can continue to build a better country."

Some of the effects of non-exercise include heart disease, cancer, respiratory diseases, diabetes, kidney disease, disability caused by injury, and mental illness.
